WASHINGTON — Patients Rising Now Co-Founder Terry Wilcox today released the following statement in response to the U.S. House passage of Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act (H.R.3173):
“The prior authorization process has become incredibly burdensome to stretched-thin physicians and their staffs, and the resulting delays have caused unnecessary health burdens for patients.
A doctor’s job is not to haggle with insurance. It’s to provide timely care to patients in need, and this bill will streamline the prior authorization process to allow them to do just that.
We applaud the House for passing this critical legislation for patients, especially those in the chronic disease community, and thank Reps. Suzan DelBene (D-WA), Mike Kelly (R-PA), Ami Bera, MD (D-CA) and Larry Bucshon, MD (R-IN) for leading the charge on this critical issue. We hope the Senate continues the momentum of this pro-patient and pro-physician legislation.”
